Life in the city can be truly beautiful if you learn to live in it intentionally. Over time, I’ve learned to fall in love with the beauty that exists in places like these—from the glow of city lights to the people you meet along the way.
For this reason, I want to invite you to experience city life in a way that genuinely makes you happy. In this blog post, I’ll share a few tips on how to romanticize your life in the city so you can fall in love with every moment you spend there.
Let’s begin.
Go for a walk every day
When I lived in Santiago de Chile, I often felt a strong urge to immerse myself in the streets of the city with my headphones on. Looking back, those walks are some of my fondest memories, because everything felt more beautiful when I allowed myself to get lost on purpose for a while.
Personally, I believe that going for a daily walk is one of the best habits you can have when living in a city. This small ritual is wonderful not only for your physical health, but also for your mental well-being.
Visit cafés, museums, and other cool places with friends
For some people, this might sound a little too Pinterest-inspired, but trust me—it’s one of the best ways to romanticize your life in the city. Visiting cafés, museums, and parks helps you fall completely in love with the city you live in.
When I spent three months in Zurich, Switzerland, I loved going to places like these with friends. I enjoyed spending my afternoons outside the house, because it’s one of the best ways to immerse yourself in a city’s atmosphere and connect with its unique personality.
Create daily rituals to care for your mind and heart
In my opinion, the charm of a city depends on two things: what you do outside your home and what you do inside it. When it comes to the latter, it’s important to create daily rituals that allow you to relax and connect with the present moment.
These rituals can take many forms—the important thing is that they make you feel at ease. Whether you prefer taking a warm bath after work or sitting in your living room to read for a while, it’s important that this moment becomes something that truly nourishes your heart.
